About Me
In 1975, my family set foot on American soil for the first time. I was 5 years old, the youngest of six children along with my parents. This is one of the first pictures taken after we landed. Prior to our flight across the world, my mom cut off her beautiful, long thick hair. It was her way of offering a “sacrifice” when she prayed for us to make it safely to our destination.
I am a first generation immigrant, a refugee, and the product of the Vietnam War. After the country collapsed, my dad had to make a split second decision to protect his family. Leaving all of our belongings, my dad led us onto a cargo plane headed to Guam. In an instant, our family’s entire world was turned upside down. It was the end of the life we knew. My parents were both young, in their 30’s, with their six children, alone in a foreign country.
Over 4 decades later, however, I am proud to say that my family is the embodiment of the American dream. My family has reaped the opportunities this country has had to offer and I am forever grateful. At a very young age, I was taught that success is not defined by your current situation, but by the attitude, mindset and perspective you have. Add in hard work, dedication and perseverance and it is true that anyone can succeed.
My Family
I am not a native of the Midwest, but consider it the home I have known and loved since 1995. I was raised in California. I graduated from University of California, San Diego, with a double major in Biology and Psychology. From there, I entered professional school in Chicago and received my doctorate in 1999. My career path has led me to working at several Veterans Hospitals, medical facilities and owning my own practice.
My husband and I moved from Brookfield to Menomonee Falls in 2009 with our two daughters, Isabella and Olivia. This year, both my children will be graduates of Menomonee Falls High School and my husband is currently a provider at a hospital-based clinic. Over the past 16 years, we have lived and raised our children in this community. We are proud to call Menomonee Falls our home.
In early 2021, I decided to slow down in my career. I took a three month hiatus to spend time with my family and to redirect my focus on my volunteer work which I have been involved with over the years. I have always been inspired to give back to others. In particular, I focus my volunteer activities on my love for children, animals and veterans.
Wisconsin Adopt a Golden Retriever (WAAGR) and Tailwaggers 911 are organizations close to my heart. My non-profit organization, Mutts on a Mission-Wisconsin, have worked with these organizations. When a rescue dog that has the right temperament comes along, we will foster and train them to become a service dog. When a dog has finished the program, we will match the dog with an at-risk veteran or first responder, at no cost. Team Lift Inc is a non-profit organization that has built a school to house and educate approximately 350 disadvantaged girls in Malawi. I am proud to say we have expanded to having medical clinics also. I have been privileged to be part of this organization.
Since 2021, I entered a new chapter in my life with a different perspective and purpose. I dedicated my life to being of service to others professionally and personally. It was time for me to apply that same commitment, compassion and dedication to our children. They are our greatest and most valuable investment.
In April 2022, I was humbled to be elected to a seat on the Menomonee Falls School Board.
I am proud of our progress, and Ready for the Future. [Key accomplishments as a School Board Member]

Malawi: I assisted these beautiful girls to receive their first pair of glasses.

WAAGR
One of my proudest moments is rehabilitating this abused dog. She had been kept in a crate her entire life.
